Eastport-South Manor Junior-Senior High School goes by the abbreviation “ESM” – which the school also uses for its motto “Every Student Matters”. So when they were considering a roof restoration for the 32,000 square-foot building during the school year, the school’s facility team was adamant that the project could not disrupt the learning of a single student.
While the school’s existing modified bitumen roof was aging, it was identified as a good candidate for a restoration through a detailed analysis conducted by Garland’s Territory Manager for Long Island, Tim Roth. Roth recommended Garland’s LiquiTec fully reinforced fluid applied membrane. “LiquiTec is a best-in-class restoration system not only because of its performance and strength. It also has virtually no odor during application, meaning that we could take on the project during school hours and the students and staff really might not even know we were up on the roof.”
The project kicked off under the guidance of local contractor Milcon Construction of West Babylon, NY. The LiquiTec system applied easily and the project completed on-schedule. Even better, the school did not receive a single complaint regarding any disruption cause by the project, either due to odor or noise. At the conclusion of the project, Roth presented the facility team at Eastport-South Manor with a 20-year limited restoration warranty for the system. Said Roth, “It would be easy to always do school projects when students are on break, but that’s not always possible. With LiquiTec, we were able to ensure a leak-free environment this academic year, while also delivering a long-term system designed to perform when these students are grown and have kids of their own going here.”
